It’s life! Google’s anticipated OpenSocial just released itself to the public. OpenSocial being developed by Google in conjunction with members of the web community. The ultimate goal is for any social website to be able to implement the APIs and host 3rd party social applications.

OpenSocial can be best describe as a platform where all gadgets/applications are built on a standardize APIs and will eventually work with all partnered networks. Now now, with OpenSocial going live, what are you waiting for dear application developers? Start the ball rolling!

OpenSocial allows developers to host the applications on Google server, or they could host it themselves, pretty flexible since you might rather let Google handle the hosting as they have better equipments to handle high data traffics should your application become the top application around the globe.

One thing you might notice, where’s FaceBook? We have MySpace, Friendster getting in but not FaceBook. This might be a result because of the recent bidding between Google and Microsoft on the FaceBook’s equity investment and as exclusive third-party representative, with Microsoft winning the bid. FaceBook on the other said they were not informed of the OpenSocial thingie though.
