
Just when you thought Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will be out anytime end of this year, it isn’t show sign of getting to public release yet. Rest assured though as we’ve found some updates which you can give your Vista machine a fix if you’re tired of waiting for Service Pack 1.
An update is available that improves the compatibility, reliability, and stability of Windows Vista
This update extends battery life of laptops, improves stability of laptop, desktop while using an UPS, wifi. Software wise, reliability of Windows Vista while opening a startup application menu is improved. Besides this, startup timing structure is tuned better with this patch. Windows Vista will also recover faster after a period of inactivity. It also applies to the recovery time when exiting photos screen saver.
Another point worth noting with this update is the improved stability of Windows PowerShell and some compatibility issues with third-party Antivirus are cleared up. Certain network driver configurations are also cleared up.

October 2007 Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista

These patches will be included in Vista Service Pack 1, but you can get them at windows update by this week, probably tomorrow.
